Biography

1960 born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Studied at the National Art School in Buenos Aires. Further education in fine arts at the University of British Columbia, and the University of Victoria, Canada. Lives in Berlin since 1996.

Parallel to her own artistic work, explores issues and develops strategies of art mediation, curation and cultural exchange. Has held and participated in numerous exhibitions in different countries. Invited to the Havana Biennial in 1994 and 1997.

In 1997 Pat Binder won a public art competition in homage to Käthe Kollwitz with her project "Foto/Graphik Galerie Käthe Kollwitz", directing this street gallery in Berlin until 2006.

In 2000, thanks to a grant from Berlin's Senat and the Daniel Langlois Foundation, Montréal, realization of the Internet art project Voices from Ravensbrueck. In May 2002, it was awarded the Marianne von Willemer Prize of the city of Linz/Austria.

Since 1997 Pat Binder and her partner Gerhard Haupt are the editors of the Internet platform and magazine Universes in Universe - Worlds of Art.
