Johannes Ulrich Kubiak (*1961), the painter, and Ludwig Rauch (*1960) the photographer, work together as a team since 1992. Behind this decision lies the attempt of both artists to traduce their different starting points into a third visual language. They experimented with especially developed procedures of stratification and montage, which first allowed for an unlimited variability in the unfolding of images. Later, the photographic starting material could however be transferred into a form of light painting, whose depth effect would have never been achieved with traditional techniques. This resulted in an image system of highly intellectual flexibility and aesthetic polymorphism.
